Pen, behaving badly.
In his first collection of short stories, Sean Hoade takes readers where they might not want to go… but which they’ll love once they get there. Inside:
- Hooker vs. Retard in motel room tryst
- Husband vs. Wife in S&M Battle Royale
- Zombies vs. Gamblers in Post-Apocalyptic Las Vegas
- Plus Jesus, robots, hand harmonicas, porn stars in the Midwest, reality TV, and much more ill-advised literary adventure!
When I was asked if I would be interested in reading and reviewing Sean Hoade’s book, Inappropriate Behavior: Short Transgressions, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting myself into. I mean, you read the summary above…what the hell was I supposed to think?! Freaking awesome is what I should have thought!
The stories within the pages of this anthology are weird, sick, twisted, thought-provoking and disgusting and that’s just in ONE story. Mr. Hoade has managed to take some very disturbing scenarios and make them very thoughtful or even funny, in some cases. Not all are disturbing mind you, but the ones that stick out most in my mind are very visual and perverse. In Eleven Inches from Heaven, a porn star’s…ummm, talent gets put to good use. A man finds love in a VERY disturbing way in Nature is a Wonderful Thing. We’ve all heard the song “You Always Hurt the Ones You Love”, in Tough Love a married couple takes it to a new extreme.
The stories in Inappropriate Behavior: Short Transgressions fall into several categories: horror, sci-fi, erotic, crime, love and I’m sure I have missed a few I should have mentioned. It is difficult to explain how interesting and unique this anthology is without giving away what makes it different. The writing style is clear, concise and very imaginative. Detailed enough for a short story without being overly wordy. Oh and yes, there are some zombies in this book, too. SCORE!
Inappropriate Behavior: Short Transgressions is a definite jolt of caffeine for your literary senses. Go grab yourself a copy either for Kindle or paperback through Amazon by clicking the link above or for Barnes & Noble nook owners click (HERE)
