A matchbox of our own. A fence of real chain link. A grill out on the patio. Disposal in the sink. A washer and a dryer and an ironing machine. In a tract house that we share. Somewhere that’s green. ~Audrey, Little Shop of Horrors

Everyone at some point in time fantasizes about what their dream home will be like and Alex Hutchinson was no different.  Only thing is, when Alex was dreaming of her home she didn’t imagine it to have a reappearing corpse…Charlie, but Charlie is exactly what she ended up with and her boyfriend Geoff isn’t being very helpful or supporting.

Charlie is the first short story in a monthly serial entitled Twelve Terrifying Tales for 2011 and is author, Shana Hammaker’s debut short thriller.  Being a debut, I have to say bravo to Shana for telling a page turning tale of suspense, twist and turns and an ending that I did not see coming.  I actually sat and read Charlie twice in 1 sitting, I enjoyed it that much.  It is a short tale, I’m not exactly sure on the word count, but the author is selling it various places for $0.99 and my opinion is that it is worth it.  I will also be reviewing Shana Hammaker’s next two installments in Twelve Terrifying Tales for 2011 soon, so keep your eyes open for those as well.
