When two Boston nuns are found brutally beaten, one fatally and the other with a hint of life left in her, it’s up to homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and her partner to find a suspect. Meanwhile, Maura has the honor of her ex-husband coming back into town after being divorced for three years. Why does she suddenly interest him?

The Sinner is the third book in the Rizzoli/Isles series following The Surgeon and The Apprentice. It continues with the same well-developed characters and gripping story line as it dives a little deeper into their lives while off the clock causing more drama to unfold.

This book is written to be part of the series but it can also be enjoyable if read alone.
